The Analytical and Purification Working Group focuses on fostering cross-pharmaceutical collaboration on the development of new analytical and purification instruments and tools that will be useful for pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. The working group covers a wide range of topics from analytical technologies to preparative scale separations
The Crystallization Working Group addresses opportunities to improve our collective approaches to crystallization process development. The work of this group focuses around pharmaceutical crystallization, with interests ranging from modeling to reactor design to experimental tools that allow for more relevant measurements to be taken.
The Mathematical Modeling Working Group aims to enhance the value and accelerate development of models through pre-competitive collaboration. The group is focused on a strategy to establish modeling resources and repositories to add value in the generation and sharing of models.
AUTOMATED LAB REACTORS
The Automated Lab Reactors Working Group early on recognized that reactor systems were available only on two ends of a spectrum: existing systems are either low-throughput, easy-to-use systems or complex, high-throughput systems that require sophisticated and dedicated end-users to operate. The group focuses on the personal parallel reactor project, with a goal for the reactor to be well-designed, small-footprint, and sufficiently low-cost to allow for purchase and deployment of multiple systems within a typical laboratory.
The Drying Working Group aims to improve upon the knowledge and best practices of drying pharmaceutical drug substances with agitated dryers. The range of activities includes experience sharing, developing scale-down drying equipment, modeling of drying kinetics and physical property control, and evaluating materials characterization approaches as monitored by PAT or offline samples.
The Solubility Working Group aims to address current challenges with high throughput solubility workflows through an experimental program to assess accuracy, reproducibility, and challenges with current manual and high throughput platforms, and to evaluate solubility modeling/prediction platforms using the experimental dataset.
